Presenter Information

Posters and Demos (Bogle Room):

Demo presenters are not required, but are encouraged, to prepare a poster to go along with it.

Easels will be provided to attach your printed poster to, as well as staples, tape, or an appropriate method of attachment (e.g., a backing board). In order to best present your poster, however, you may choose to get them printed directly onto the foam core and shipped to the conference site (Mailing Address: c/o Jennifer Kabinoff, National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19106, USA) beforehand. Please mark "MIR 2010" on the shipment. Two nearby printing facilities for you to consider the option of printing upon landing in Philadelphia:
(1) FedEx Office Print & Ship Center, 1201 Market St, Marriott Hotel, Philadelphia, PA 19107, Phone +1-215-923-2520
(2) Staples Store, 1044 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19107, Phone +1-215-923-0109.

The easels we provide are large enough to hold the ISO AO size (33" width by 46" height, or 89cm by 118cm). The easel look like this picture. Posters should be set up before the poster session begins. An author should be at the poster at the specified times (see the conference program).

Additionally, we ask the presenter of each poster to make a one-minute talk in the main presentation hall (see below) during the "mini poster and demo introduction" sessions, right after lunch of each day. You are allowed to use one Powerpoint slide but you need to stick to the time limit of one minute. If your poster is scheduled for that day, we expect your talk to be on that day.

You want your poster to be visually appealing and interesting, but most of all, make sure that your poster is easy to read from a distance. Fonts for text should be at a minimum 24 point, without exception. If your text does not fit on the poster at this size, then this is a good indication that you need to reduce the amount of text, not the font size. Use an easy to read font (e.g., Times, Palatino or other serif font) for the text. A good font size for titles is 72 point.

Wireless Internet will be provided in that room at all time during the conference. So you can bring in a laptop computer to show some online demos related to your poster.

The room has a ceiling-mounted projector and a screen. If you have some creative way to use it, please let us know (email to James Wang) and we can consider. It can take pre-loaded Powerpoint slides only.

Oral Talks (Main Presentation Hall):

For the main presentation hall, to be used for oral sessions, a large-screen projector and a laptop computer on the podium will be provided, along with microphones. There will not be enough power outlets. If you wish to use your laptop during the talks, you will need to charge your batteries to full, and possibly bring in some power plug splitters.

There is a good online resource for presentation guidelines from a previous conference. You can feel free to check it out (though some specific info is related to that previous conference).

Hallways and Open Spaces:

The hallways and open spaces will be used for conference participants to socialize. There will be plenty of space to sit and to walk around.
